GABRIELA SZLAK
Gabriela Szlak (partner) is a lawyer (University of Buenos Aires – UBA, with honors) with postgraduate degrees in eBusiness Management from Georgetown University and the University of Salvador and Internationally certified in Data Privacy.
Gabriela leads all matters related to digital regulations and data protection at Lerman & Szlak. She focuses her practice on Digital Business, Data Privacy, IT and AI.
Having been a digital entrepreneur herself, she now advises investors, companies, and Startups such as Hardware (IOT), Software, SaaS, Crypto and Fintech companies, Digital Content Agencies, Online Stores, and eCommerce organizations. She specializes in the design and execution of local and international legal strategies; the drafting and negotiation of complex contracts, regulations, terms and conditions, privacy policies, licensing and confidentiality agreements and data privacy contracts; and the implementation of legal requirements for projects with global reach. Her digital business-focused practice also includes ecommerce, digital marketing, trademark, and other intellectual property rights, such as domain names.
She is also the Co-chair of the Buenos Aires Knowledge Net Chapter for the IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) and a consultant for the World Bank Group (WBG) on digital regulations, with a focus on data privacy and online consumer protection.
She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and the Latin American Privacy Association (ALAP), the International Trademark Association (INTA), a member of the International Council for Online Dispute Resolution (ICORD) and a fellow of the National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution (NCTDR) at the University of Massachusetts.
She represents clients in organizations such as the ICANN Business Constituency and has been a member of the Data Protection Committee at INTA and at the Argentine Chamber of E-commerce (CACE) legal commission. She has also authored academic and research articles and has been a speaker at local and international events and a pioneer in online dispute resolution in Latin America.
She is lecturer in the Legal Aspects of Digital Business courses at two master’s Degrees and one Specialization in two Universities: UBA and Universidad CAECE. She has algo been a lecturer in Data Privacy, and on IP for Startups, for postgraduate legal students at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.
