Gabriela is a seasoned attorney and Managing Partner at Lerman & Szlak where she leads the firm’s IT, Data Privacy, and Artificial Intelligence practice.
With over 18 years of experience, she supports companies and organizations on the design of legal strategies for the efficient implementation of their digital businesses, with focus on the protection of their intangible assets and on compliance in data protection and artificial intelligence. She has solid experience in negotiating and drafting complex technology contracts, policies and processes for innovative companies, platforms and apps with international reach and in digital marketing campaigns aimed at mass-market audiences. Her background as a LegalTech entrepreneur enables her to integrate legal insight with a deep understanding of business, fostering innovation and value creation.
She holds a postgraduate degree in eBusiness Management from Georgetown University and Universidad del Salvador and holds international certifications in Data Privacy (APEP-ALAP) and AI for Legal Practice (University of Salamanca). She serves as Co-Chair of the IAPP Buenos Aires Chapter and advises global and regional organizations on digital regulation, with a strong focus on the Global South.
Gabriela’s leadership in Data Privacy, Innovation, Technology and Intellectual Property has been recognized by leading international rankings. In 2025, she was ranked by Leaders League in Data Protection and in Innovation, Technology & Telecommunications. She has also been listed by WTR1000 as a Recommended Individual in IP. Additionally, she received a special award from eCommerce Institute for her pioneering role and vision in developing Argentina’s digital commerce ecosystem. Under her leadership, Lerman & Szlak has also been ranked by international rankings such as Chambers and Partners, Leaders League, WTR, IP stars and Latin Lawyer 250.
A tenured professor at master’s courses on digital business at the University of Buenos Aires, she teaches digital regulation for ecommerce and marketing, with particular emphasis on data privacy, intellectual property, and AI. Gabriela actively contributes to institutions such as IAPP, DMA, ADC, INTA, ICANN, and is a Fellow at the National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution at UMass Amherst.
Deeply committed to diversity, she spearheaded initiatives like “Women in Privacy: Latin America”, in partnership with the IAPP KnowledgeNet Chapters of Buenos Aires and Bogotá, to uplift and empower female voices in cybersecurity and privacy across the region.
