The INPI has published Resolution No. 75/2026 in today’s Argentine Official Gazette, introducing changes to the fee structure applicable to industrial property proceedings in Argentina.
The resolution updates the official fees for trademarks, patents, utility models, and industrial designs, effective as of April 1, 2026, in accordance with the new amounts set forth in the Annex. This is the first fee adjustment since October 2023.
UMAPI: New Fee Adjustment System
The resolution also introduces the Industrial Property Fee Unit (UMAPI), which will become effective on May 1, 2026.
UMAPI is a new reference unit in which INPI´s fees will be expressed. Its initial value is set as a fraction of the cost of filing a single-class trademark application. Once implemented, the value of UMAPI will be updated monthly based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published by Argentina’s National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC).
This change modifies how official fees are determined and updated, introducing a dynamic system that will track inflation.
In this context, it’s best to move forward with any upcoming filings and renewals as soon as possible to ensure clarity and predictability around the applicable fees.
