The Public Information Access Agency, Argentina’s data protection authority (the “Authority”), received recognition at the 46th Annual Meeting of the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA), held in Jersey. This award acknowledges the Personal Data Protection Module within the Registry of Integrity and Transparency for Companies and Entities, developed by the Authority in partnership with the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
This Module serves as an innovative tool designed to help organizations self-assess and align their internal practices with current regulations and privacy best practices. The assessment covers essential areas, including:
- Implementing a personal data protection plan
- Assessing personal data protection risks
- Designate a department responsible for privacy and data protection matters
- Implementing accountability measures
- Training staff on privacy matters
- Providing contact details for data subjects to exercise their rights
Upon receiving the award, Beatriz Anchorena, head of the Authority, described the Module as:
“A compass for businesses and organizations to ensure compliance with current and future regulations, aligned with international standards in the field” and “part of the incremental modernization of national regulations (…)” promoted by the Authority.
We extend our congratulations to the Authority for this achievement, which supports organizations in meeting regulatory requirements and helps elevate privacy and data protection standards across the population.
It is also worth noting that both the Personal Data Protection Module and the rest of the Registry of Integrity and Transparency for Companies and Entities (RITE) are available free of charge.
For more information on this tool, visit RITE or read our article published at the time of the Module’s launch.
