Lerman & Szlak at the AI IN LATAM 2024 Event: Training and Networking on Artificial Intelligence

As part of our commitment to data privacy, AI, innovation and new technologies, we had the honor of participating and supporting AI IN LATAM 2024 (AILat24), a key training event on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Latin America, with our partner, Gabriela Szlak, as the moderator for the Ethics, Security, and Regulations in AI panel.

The event brought together over 100 speakers, along with professionals and companies from the AI and other disruptive technologies business ecosystem, providing a space to share knowledge and explore the opportunities that Artificial Intelligence represents in the region.

Our law firm had a stand in the event, with members from our IT, Data Privacy and AI team, our Intellectual Property team, and our Corporate Law team.

Key Topics Discussed at the Event
Throughout the day, crucial topics were addressed, such as the future of work with AI and new labor models, its role in hyper-personalization, marketing, and advertising, as well as AI ethics, security, and regulations.

The AI ethics, security, and regulations panel, moderated by Gabriela Szlak, began with a presentation by Sebastián Fernández Quezada, VU Security CTPO, on AI in information security and its use cases. Next, Francisco Michref, Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Globant, discussed together with Gabriela Szlak, the regulatory landscape for AI in Europe, the United States, Argentina, and Latin America.

Finally, Gabriela concluded the Panel by offering ethical principles and best practices for companies to adopt when implementing AI technologies to ensure their ethical and responsible use.

The Relevance of These Events
In a dynamic environment where advancements in Artificial Intelligence are transforming every sector, it is essential to understand not only the opportunities it offers but also its regulation and proper implementation. This enables the distinction between responsible and irresponsible use of AI, protecting company assets and minimizing potential risks and harms that could arise.

For Lerman & Szlak, participating in events like AILat24 strengthens our commitment to continuous education in AI-related topics and allows us to adapt our strategies to these changes, offering our clients solid advice aligned with best practices and current regulations.
