Celia is currently chair of the AI and Decisions by Machines Subcommittee at the Emerging Issues Committee (2016-2017, and 2017-2019 terms), and has previously contributed as a member of the Trademark Reporter Committee (2014-2015 term).
In the event, which focused on how to achieve success with email and automation marketing strategies and best practices, Gabriela Szlak, partner at Lerman & Szlak, had the challenging task to present briefly an overview on Data Protection and GDPR, focusing on email marketing, and considering user´s rights and companies’ obligations under the new regulation, in Argentina and in the region.
In the event, industry leaders will share their views and strategies to build a successful email and automation marketing strategy.

Resolution 201/2019 of the National Institute of Industrial Property of August 16, 2019, published in the Argentinean Trademark Bulletin No. 4844 of August 21, 2019, introduced a series of modifications to Resolution 101/2006 regulating the profession of Industrial Property Agents.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office has announced a new rule in force by August 3rd, 2019, requiring all foreign-domiciled trademark applicants, registrants, and parties at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board whose permanent legal residence or principal place of business is outside the United States or its territories, to be represented by an attorney who is licensed to practice law in the United States, in order to address the USPTO.

Celia’s speech at the summit will focus on the subject of the Law & Innovation Lab that she founded and is the head of at the Torcuato Di Tella University, where she is also a professor.
The objectives of this seminar include myths and facts about eCommerce, attitudes of consumers in Argentina and other countries concerning the notion of privacy in the digital world, as well as GDPR and reform of Law 25.326 (Habeas Data).
