The 2026 edition of the IAM Patent 1000 ranking once again highlighted the work of our  team, recognizing Lerman & Szlak among the leading patent law firms in Argentina and internationally.
On February 5, 2026, the United States and Argentina signed a trade and investment agreement that includes commitments to modernize the Argentine intellectual property system, particularly with regard to patents, while also facilitating the exchange of digital services between the signatory countries.

We are pleased to announce that the Lerman & Szlak team has once again been recognized in the WTR (World Trademark Review) ranking, one of the leading international publications in trademark law and intellectual property. In this edition, three key members of our team received individual recognition, underscoring their professional excellence and their contributions to trademark practice.
On International Data Privacy Day, attention turns not only to privacy as a fundamental right, but also to the growing importance of cross-border data flows in a globalized economy. Recent regulatory developments in Europe and Latin America point to a clear trend toward shared standards and cooperation mechanisms that enable personal data to move freely—without compromising individuals' rights.
As of January 1st, the 13th Edition of the Nice Classification entered  into force, introducing changes that affect how goods and services are classified for trademark registration. These updates include transfers between classes, as well as the addition and deletion of products and services.
Our partner Gabriela Szlak, head of the IT, Data Privacy & AI team, has once again been appointed Co-Chair of the IAPP KN Buenos Aires Chapter for the 2026 term.
Luciano Gutman, of our IT, Data Privacy & AI department participated in the 2025 edition of the ID Latam Forum, an event that brings together governments, companies, and civil society organizations to address current opportunities and challenges for digital identity projects across the region.
Our Intellectual Property partner, Celia Lerman, was interviewed by the international publication The Trademark Lawyer Magazine as part of its “Women in IP Leadership” segment, a platform dedicated to highlighting the careers and contributions of women leaders in the global intellectual property industry.
Resolution P-583/25, published on December 11th  in the Official Bulletin, introduce substantial updates to the trademark registration process in Argentina. Particularly, the new framework adjusts the scope of the ex officio examination and reorganizes the stages  of the trademark registration proceding.
