The Digital Access Service for Priority Documents (DAS-OMPI) Administered by WIPO Will be Extended to Trademarks, Models and Industrial Designs

Resolution P-262 was published in the Official Gazette, on August 23. This resolution establishes that the digital access service for priority documents of Trademarks, Models and Industrial Designs, administered by WIPO, will be effective as of September 1, 2023 regarding INPI’s right of access to foreign documents, and November 1, 2023 regarding INPI’s performance as depository office. This measure has already been effective in the past several years, regarding Invention Patents and Utility Models and on this occasion, it is incorporated into the documents of Trademarks, Models and Industrial Designs.

The digital access system allows accrediting the previous deposit of an application for any industrial property right, in order to accept and/or claim the right of priority from article 4 of the Paris Union Convention, in our jurisdiction, or another jurisdiction, when ours is the country of first deposit.

We celebrate this measure, which contributes to the simplification of formalities in the processing of industrial property rights.
